  Metropolitan Water Plan
The Metropolitan Water Plan charts Sydney's course towards a sustainable and secure water system for people and rivers over the next 25 years. As well as considering the needs of the people of Sydney, it makes a special allowance for water for the environment.
  Sydney's Growth Centres
The planning, infrastructure and services of the North West and South West Growth Centres are considered throughout the Metropolitan Strategy, and are integral to the development of, and access to, housing and jobs in key Regional Cities and Major Centres in Western Sydney.

Western Sydney Parklands
The Western Sydney Parklands will provide Sydney with a vast conservation and recreation haven equivalent in size to 25 Centennial Parks.

The Parklands are important to the Metropolitan Strategy and several actions relating to the Parklands are included in the Parks and Public Places Strategy of City of Cities.

  Planning Reform
Reforms to the NSW Planning system are ongoing and are integral to the implementation of the objectives of the Metropolitan Strategy.
